A Good Night's Rest after a Hard Day's Work, Doggie Style

In recent times, dogs have become home companions for many families in independent owners. The family dog has become the center of attention for many children, and the same canine has become a co-conspirator in many children's antics. However, there are still a wide variety of people who use dogs in some of the more traditional working roles. For example, hunters, militaries, security organizations, and disabled employ dogs in a variety of roles that are intended to help their handlers perform jobs, which are crucial to their continued success and in extreme cases their survival. Not every dog can be a working dog. In fact, many of the previously mentioned jobs are performed by the larger breeds of dogs such as retrievers, Pit Bulls, Dobermans, Canie Corsos, and Siberian Huskies, Malamutes, German shepherds and Dogo Argentinos. While many people believe that these previously mentioned breeds of dogs are among the most unpredictable and aggressive dogs in the world, these people are misinformed. The previously mentioned dogs were never intended to be homebound lapdogs. These canines were intended to assist human beings with some of the most arduous and dangerous occupations on earth. Their size and aggressiveness makes them perfect candidates for some of these jobs.

For example, German shepherds, Canie Corsos, and Irish wolfhounds can be used quite successfully to guard livestock such as sheep or cattle from predatory animals such as wolves, coyotes, and cougars. On the other hand, Huskies and Malamutes have been used by men and women in harsh climates such as those found in Siberia, Russia, and Alaska to pull sleds through the snow and ice, allowing people greater access to transportation and small towns, which is a must-have to ensure one's survival in such inhospitable conditions. While German shepherds, Dobermans, Akitas and Jindo are in use within many of the worlds police and military forces for the purposes of bomb or drug detection as well as their traditional security duties.

Owing to the harshness and arduous nature of these jobs, these particular breeds of canine are prone to experience injury as well as heavy amounts of damage to their skeletal and muscular structures. Veterinarians have developed several varieties of food and vitamins, which can prolong the dogs' lives and safely increase their stamina as well as their overall performance. However, the best cure for exhaustion in either man or dog is a good uninterrupted sleep. Many companies have developed dog beds for large dogs. These beds have been specifically designed to ensure that the dog enjoys the utmost comfort while sleeping. Furthermore, some of these beds can be classified as memory foam beds. The use of memory foam allows the bed to fit to the natural contours of an individual animal, and provide the best muscular and skeletal support possible. Therefore, while the dog is sleeping his joints, muscles, and bones are allowed to recuperate from the injuries sustained by working dogs on a daily basis. Any person whether they are a peace officer or a rancher who employs dogs for the types of jobs discussed above should seriously consider investing in these types of dog beds to ensure that their partners provide the best performance possible on a daily basis.
